Leading through change: key insights from Securexchange’s AML/CTF Roadshows

Submitted by Alex Antal, Head of Securexchange

The team at Securexchange and I have had the privilege of engaging with hundreds of real estate agents across metro and regional New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland over the last six weeks on our AML/CTF roadshow. These sessions offered a front-row seat to how agents are approaching the Tranche 2 reforms, and the observations are striking.

We’ve seen agents come prepared, motivated, and proactive. They asked questions, sought clarity, and focused on managing compliance efficiently and accurately, demonstrating a clear commitment to getting it right. Across metro offices and regional towns alike, the energy, engagement, and willingness to learn have been remarkable.

We thank all who attended our roadshows and want to reassure all agents across Australia that Securexchange is here to support them throughout this transition, showing how mandatory compliance can be simplified, integrated into daily workflows, and seamlessly become part of day-to-day operations.

Observing confidence in action

One of the most consistent patterns we’ve seen is agents’ desire for clarity and practical guidance. They want to understand exactly what steps to take, their specific obligations, and how to ensure accuracy without creating unnecessary administrative burden, while keeping clients and sales as their focus.

This proactive mindset is inspiring. Agents aren’t waiting for compliance to become a challenge. They are taking control now, asking the right questions, and exploring tools that embed best practice into daily operations. In every session, the message was clear, that agents want confidence that their processes will cover their mandatory obligations and protect both clients and their business.

Efficiency through technology

Technology is playing the leading role in helping agents meet their obligations, and Securexchange has demonstrated how our platform streamlines AML/CTF requirements, from AUSTRAC enrolment to client onboarding, record keeping, and reporting. It’s ultimately making compliance efficient, accurate, and reliable.

Reliance is one example of this efficiency in action for real estate agents, where you can leverage completed client onboarding checks from lawyers and conveyancers. AUSTRAC require you to onboard your clients with more rigorous checks and verifications, which can be time consuming and a burden on your agency and clients.

Instead of completing these yourself, you can rely on checks done by the lawyer or conveyancer later in the transaction. This will save agents valuable time with less admin and duplication compared to manually completing Know Your Client (KYC) checks, involving questionnaires, PEPs, sanctions, adverse media checks, and more.

This isn’t the first time Securexchange has led the industry through a major compliance change. In 2025, we partnered with the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) to launch the Seller Disclosure Tool, supporting Queensland agents through compliance changes in the Seller Disclosure Regime. AML/CTF compliance is no different, our platform provides agents with practical tools they can rely on to make the process more manageable and simplistic.

From my observations, agents are embracing these tools because they simplify compliance, free them to focus on clients and sales, and give confidence that every step is secure and accurate.

Agents as leaders

One of the most rewarding observations from the roadshows was seeing agents come together to learn, prepare, and support each other. Across metro and regional locations, agents shared experiences, asked thoughtful questions, and even found moments to laugh through the more complex parts of compliance. The sessions highlighted that compliance isn’t just an individual responsibility; it’s something agents can approach collectively, building confidence and knowledge together.

Feedback from participants reinforces this sense of collaboration and empowerment. Many left the sessions feeling motivated to act, equipped with practical guidance and a clearer understanding of their obligations.

Lovy Goundan, National Sales Manager, said, “The response to our complimentary Compliance Centre has been incredible. Agents are taking full advantage of the support available, booking personalised sessions to ensure they understand their obligations and can implement them confidently.”

Participants summed it up perfectly. One said:

“These sessions gave me clarity and confidence in how to manage compliance with accuracy, which feels empowering throughout significant changes.”

Another shared:

“We wouldn’t have missed yesterday [Townsville Roadshow event] for anything. We believe in the product, we believe in the system, and more importantly, we believe in you.”

Reflections ahead of Tranche 2

As 1 July approaches, my reflections are clear: the agents I’ve observed are leading the way and building confidence. They demonstrate that compliance can be a driver of professionalism, trust, and operational excellence. Agencies that embrace clarity, technology, and accuracy now are positioning themselves to thrive in a changing regulatory environment.

For agents yet to act, there’s still time, but my advice is to start preparing now, seek clarity, explore practical solutions. By doing so, you will not only meet obligations but also lead your peers and elevate your agency’s reputation.

Across metro and regional New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, I’ve witnessed a shared commitment, that agents are preparing, empowered, and taking ownership of the future of their industry. Those who follow their example will enter July 1 confident, and positioned as leaders in professional, client-focused real estate practice.

The Securexchange Compliance Centre

The Securexchange AML/CTF Compliance Centre is a centralised digital platform that makes compliance simple and efficient. It guides agents through each step of their obligations, from business and client onboarding to record keeping and reporting. Agents can also leverage Reliance, allowing checks completed by other Tranche 2 entities to be shared and relied on, saving time and reducing duplication. The result is a supported, streamlined way for agents to manage compliance while focusing on clients and daily operations.
